What's the difference between Tysso MSR and TMSR series?

MSR Series are the Magstripe card reader with 17 cm housing, and its configuration can only be done by Dip-Switch Settings (Optional Software-Configurable version is also available upon requested) the TMSR series employs a 10 cm long housing and it is able to choose different cable outlets in order to suit various application environment.
 

What language does TYSSO magnetic stripe card readers support?

TYSSO Magnetic Stripe Card Reader support English and Pan-European Language characters.
 

Does TYSSO Magnetic Swipe Card Reader support JIS-II standard?

Yes, Tysso TMSR series are able to read both the JIS-II and ISO cards upon ordering request.
 

What communication interface does TYSSO swipe card reader and encoder provide?

TYSSO Magnetic swipe card reader are available with keyboard wedge, RS-232, and USB interface.  The encoders are only available with RS-232 interface.
 

Does the TYSSO TMSR series magnetic stripe card reader configurable by the setup utility via keyboard wedge interface?

Yes, the shipped software utility is able to use on both keyboard wedge and RS-232 interface readers.  There is also a PS/2 to RS-232 adapter come along with the product, please note that this adapter is used only for configuration purpose and will not act as a real PS/2 to RS-232 converter

Does Tysso swipe card reader reads the ISO track 2 with 7-bit encoding ?

Yes, we provide optional models for our TMSR series that is able to read the track 2 with 7-bit

What is a "Track"?

The magnetic stripe found on the back of the magstripe cards has a possibility of up to three "tracks" of data for the ISO standard, identified as tracks 1, 2 and 3. Each track has a different encoding format. Track one contains up to 79 alphanumeric characters. Tracks 2 and 3 contain only numeric characters; 40 and 107 characters respectively.  Please click here for more details.  The track for JISII cards (a Japanese standard) shall be located in the area including two lines 6.3 mm and 11.7 mm from the top edge of the magnetic card but the encoded width in this track shall be more than 6 mm wide.
 

What are Hi-Co. and Low-Co.?

Hi-Co (high coercivity) is a type of magnetic stripe tape made up of magnetic particles that can stand under difficult operating environments the particles will not be easily effected when closing to a magnetic field. When high-co magstripes come into contact with magnetic fields such as a telephone handset , the information on the stripe is not altered, unlike low-co. cards which are subject to erasure. Since the two types of stripes are made up of very different material, it is necessary to use an encoder specifically made for the type of stripe you are encoding. TYSSO encoders offer the capability of encoding both types of stripes within the same encoder.
 

Do I need a special reader to decode hi-co. cards?

No. Any reader will read both high-co. and low-co. cards.
